I have been ill for many months but I am back and hoping to post on my blogs again.

After 18 wonderful months of de-stressing and simplifying my life, I am back into the thick of things again. In a way it feels good to be contributing to life once more...but I can feel the stress mount slowly as I take on more things all the time. I must be careful, I must be more selective.

I have a little granddaughter whose birthday is today. She is four years old and has her whole life and world before her. I pray that life will be good to her and treat her with the compassion that she deserves. We all want and need that, don't we?

Ahhhhh...Spring is so wonderful! Everything is new and fresh and promising....just as my life should be. Well, I can hope, can't I? Changes are hard for older people.

With my next birthday coming in several months, I am really struggling with this one....OLD, OLD, OLD ! (that's all I have to say).

After helping put some family photos onto a digital memory card for my sister, I decided I had lots more photo albums to create that would house all my photos. Now I have made myself more work projects.

I am busily trying to de-clutter my living space. Some day I will get it all done because I keep getting interruptions like reading my book, watching a movie, or sitting outside in the sun and fresh air.

My Christmas holidays were the best I have had for many, many years. This is because I seemingly found a way to curtail my seasonal depression I get each fall and winter. I am continuing with my writings and reading of fiction books. I am content doing these things and hope that I can be more productive in other areas as well.

I can't believe the great blessing I have been given...a Christmas that is depression free. I am very grateful.

This year, I am trying to do what I can to keep Christmas very simple, easy and stress free. I want to enjoy the season and not be overwhelmed by it, nor be into a depression.

Monday, November 17, 2008...
I bought several books that teach how to be a writer. I am having such fun writing on my second book, which is a romance novel. Learning to be a GOOD writer is interesting, indeed.

Thursday, November 6, 2008...
Generally, this time of year I am well into my seasonal depression. So far, though, I think I have found a way to keep it at bay. I have been doing tons of my writings, even starting my second book. I have also been doing lots of fiction reading. Perhaps, and I truly hope so, these activities are the therapy I have needed, since I choose not to take meds.

I just got back from spending a week with one of my sons and his family. While there, I had a fun new experience....riding a 4 wheeler all by myself. That was quite a feat for me, considering....

Most of my day today consisted of helping other people. It felt good to get out of myself for awhile.

I hope that how I have been feeling lately, mentally and emotionally, can continue throughout the fall and winter. That would be a wonder change....and relief.

I am almost afraid to think, to dare hope that I might have found yet another therapy to help my fall/winter depression (S.A.D.). My many self discovered "therapies" are shared on my depression blog at...
http://upsy-downsysblog.blogspot.com/ . The 3 main therapies that work best for ME are 1)making sure I get plenty of sunshine and fresh air; 2) getting lost in a movie; 3) my new found reading interest.

I intend to fight off the dark days this fall and winter by keeping myself busy doing the things I LOVE to do. Those things are writing, reading, and helping others.

Fall is approaching...to me that means my depression will be coming stronger now. More sadness, more loneliness, more struggling to keep my head out of the sand, and above the water. My Fall and Winter depression is caused by the wacky changes to the daylight hours.

It has worked out so very well for me to be a volunteer instead of committing to more permanent obligations and responsibilities. My stress levels have plummeted considerably.

I am so totally enjoying immersing myself in all my various types of writings. Besides my many blogs (see the link list on the left side of this page and down a bit), I am writing my life story, writing a journal, and doing other prose writings and articles not related to my blogs. I am grateful for the writing ability that I have been blessed with.

I am no longer going to be on staff at the Family History Center and I have ended other commitments similar to this. I am now going to do more volunteer work within my church. As a volunteer, I can control my own hours and days and if I happen to not feel well on a certain day, then I do not feel the responsibility and pressure to be there. All this will help my stress levels and my mental and emotional health.

School starts for the kids next week, our hot summer will soon wind down, and I am looking very much forward to the cooler mornings to be able to sit out on the porch and feel the refreshing wind on my face.

I feel my life and days are so blah. I need to get out more and engage in more worthwhile service projects.

I am working a lot on my various writings on my 8 blogs and other personal writings that I want to leave as a legacy for my family after I am gone.

Two of my children are planning a trip to South Dakota, to see the area of Mt. Rushmore and other attractions around there. They want me to go, but my body is experiencing too much of old age symptoms and it is a very long drive.

Over the holiday weekend, I was blessed to be able to spend time with out of town family members...one of my sons, and his family. Families are so special.

I have been working on buying more food storage the last month or so. With the economy like it is, I had better be more prepared for ANY emergencies that might happen.

The increasing price of gasoline is getting scary. How high is it going to end up getting? Many people who are already struggling financially...I just don't know how they will make it. For myself, I have cut down on my driving a lot. I have condensed all my regular weekly appointments into the same day and I am in the process of letting go of my Post Office box and just letting my mail come to our cluster box by our house.

My church leaders are so spiritual and inspired. We had a local conference the last two days and I was very moved and touched by the words of counsel they spoke. Every time I listen to them I am motivated and renewed to do better in my life.

Wednesday, June 11, 08...
How grateful I am...all my computer files were saved. I also bought a battery backup unit for my computer, so that if electricity is abruptly shut off again, I will have time to safely turn my computer off. I have been spending a lot of time getting programs back onto my computer and files where they should go.

Friday, June 6, 08...
I bought a 500GB external harddrive for my computer (whenever I get it back from the repair shop..still have not heard back from them), which I will start using to regularly backup my files to. I have painfully learned my lesson.

Thursday, June 5, 08...
The hard drive on my computer went out a couple of days ago and I am very nervous as the computer technicians try to see IF they can find and recover my files. If not, I will have learned a hard valuable lesson on backing-up computer files often. I have backups, but they are probably 6 months old. Since then, I have added many, many more files.

My granddaughter Emily was married this last Saturday, May 31, 2008. She was a beautiful bride, Jason was a handsome groom. It was a beautiful, wonderful wedding with lots of family and friends to share the joy of this special day with them.

Today is Memorial Day. A good day to be with family and loved ones and share in the special ness of just being together and remembering those dear to our hearts, who are passed on. It is important to contemplate how we each form the tapestry of each other’s lives.

I worked a lot on my blogs today. I wrote, edited, and fixed a few things. Because I have eight blogs to care for, add to, and check the hit count on....it does take more of my time. I really love to write and it helps my up and down days.

Readers of my blogs might wonder why I have not elected to allow the “comments” section to be shown and active on my blogs. I did at first, but it took a lot more of my time and I was always nervous that I would get a nasty comment from someone. When that happens, it tends to upset me too much, so I spare myself the anxiety of that.

It's amazing how fast a day goes by. Today must have been my leisure day because I did not accomplish that much. I did go to my storage unit and get my luggage for my plane trip to Colorado next week, picked up my mail and prescription and bought another prepaid cell phone card.
